EPISODE #014

RYAN ESTIS

LEADING THE WAY FORWARD

“Your job as a leader isn’t to turn everybody into you. It’s to turn everybody into the best version of them.”

Four years ago I was invited by a friend to volunteer my time to speak to a group of at-risk kids in Los Angeles. Anyone who knows me knows that kids that have faced a massive amount of adversity have a huge place in my heart. He invited me to one of the other sessions to get a feel for the organization and know some of the kids before I spoke to them a few weeks later.

When I arrived at the program there was a session being led by someone who was incredibly captivating, engaging the kids, and showing up from his heart. This person was Ryan Estis. While in town from Minneapolis on a personal visit he was volunteering his time to give back to kids who needed it the most. He immediately was someone I knew I had to get to know.

I quickly learned that this was not some one-off occurrence. This is who Ryan is and how he shows up every single day. This is someone who not only writes, advises, and speaks about leadership — he lives it. If you’re looking to level up your leadership in any area of life or business you are going to love this episode.

Ryan has more than 20 years of experience as a top-performing sales professional and leader. As the former chief strategy officer in the advertising world, he brings a fresh perspective to business events. As a keynote speaker, Ryan is known for his innovative ideas on leading change, improving sales effectiveness and preparing for the future of work. He was recently recognized as one of “the best keynote speakers ever heardby Meetings & Conventions magazine alongside Tony Robbins, Bill Gates, Colin Powell and Mike Ditka.

Ryan delivers keynote speeches, courses and online learning with an emphasis on actionable content designed to elevate business performance. His curriculum emphasizes emerging trends influencing leadership effectiveness, sales performance and customer experience.

Ryan supports the world’s leading brands, including Liberty Mutual, Darden Restaurants, Goodyear, the Dallas Cowboys, Medtronic, ECCO USA and Blue Cross Blue Shield. He is also the author of a popular blog on business performance and a new book, which we’ll dive into. His writing has been featured in Inc., Forbes, Entrepreneur, FastCompany, SmartBrief, Business News Network, Crain’s Business, and Yahoo Business.

On today’s show, we talk about navigating change and adversity as a leader, why investing in the inner-work is a pre-requisite to be a transformational leader, and why it’s crucial to adapt and implement routines and rituals.

If you want to dive deeper, Ryan is hosting a Resilient Leadership Virtual Workshop, July 20th.

CRITICAL SKILLS FOR IMPROVING PERFORMANCE AND ENGAGEMENT
