The future of your business is a direct reflection of its current leadership. It’s being defined by how leaders decide to show up in these times of nonstop disruption, rapid change, and unprecedented uncertainty. Defined by how they show up for themselves, but also how they show up for their people. Because people are expecting more from their employer than at any point in history.

“Seventy-nine percent of organizations say fostering a sense of belonging in the workforce is important or very important for their success over the next 12 to 18 months, but only 13 percent say they are very ready to address this trend.” – 2020 Deloitte Human Capital Trend Report

Research coming out of the Deloitte 2020 and 2021 Human Capital Trend Reports shows that people are demanding purpose, belonging and well-being as integral parts of their professional lives. The “Great Resignation” backs this up.

“Holding on to employees then isn’t just about scheduling. It’s about showing them their work has meaning and that the company actually cares about them as human beings” — Inc.

We develop a sense of belonging from different aspects of our organization:

  1. Do I feel aligned with the mission, values, and purpose of the organization?
  2. Do I feel a sense of connection with my team?
  3. Do I feel as if my boss is not managing me, but mentoring me to become the best version of myself?

Today I want to focus on the 3rd — the direct relationship you have with the people that you lead.

Our words have tremendous power. And, the words we choose to use with our people can have a transformative effect on our relationships. So I want to share with you today three statements all leaders need to be using for the future of work.

These statements build connection, psychological safety, and a sense of belonging. While they might be simple, they are far from insignificant. When our people not only feel these three things — but believe them to be true — it levels up organizational resilience. So many times, as leaders, it’s the small seemingly insignificant things that we do consistently over time that create the most impact.

Let’s Get To The Next Level. Together.

These are three simple, actionable statements you can put into place immediately to level up your leadership If you’re looking to dive deeper my UNSHAKEABLE workshop or keynote, or our coaching program, might be your ideal next step.
